Weaving 103 A Sampling of Techniques on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Next class May 18th. Come play on the Rigid Heddle loom! We will be sampling some of the different techniques possible. Supplies for Student to Bring to Class:
• Rigid Heddle Loom warped with 10” wide x 2 yards long. Warp with an 8/4 like the Maurice Brassard cotton. Use an 8 or 10 dent heddle (10 is preferable)
• 2 Shuttles • 2 Pick up sticks (at least as long as your warp)
• Yarn: o 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (can be an inexpensive acrylic yarn) o If you have some textured yarn such as a slubby yarn, bring it – don’t go buy any o If you have some eyelash yarn bring it – don’t go buy any o
• A straight knitting needle (somewhere around a size 4) or a skewer – at least 10” long
• Tapestry Needle/Darning needle
• Crochet hook (size is not important as long as it isn’t a really big one and is big enough to grab the worsted weight yarn)
• Scissors
• Tape measure • Index Cards (10 will be sufficient) if you want to label your sampler
• Medium safety pins (20 should be sufficient)
